Messiah
The Story of Jesus According to Matthew
The Gospel of Matthew as we have it in Greek was not the first Gospel Matthew wrote; the first Gospel he wrote was in Hebrew, but the revised Gospel in Greek became the best loved, and because it was a bridge between the Old and New Testaments was early on placed first in the lists of the Gospels. As well, it seemed the most complete beginning with Jesus' birth and ending with his resurrection and commission to the disciples to make disciples wherever they went.
Matthew Chapter 1
Family History
Every man in the land of Judea knew who he was. If asked, he could answer: “I am a son of Jacob (or Matthiah, or Zacharias). I am from the tribe of Benjamin (or of the tribe of Levi, or the tribe of Judah). And I can trace my family back through the list of the heroes of Israel to our father Abraham.” Every man knew who he was.
Jesus was the same. He had a family. And the heroes in his family were many. They included all the kings of Israel clear back to David, the greatest king. And the heroes included Judah and Jacob and, of course, Abraham.
Many browsers have a function that will read aloud the text of these PDFs once you have opened them. In mine, it is the "A" with a sound symbol in the address line above. It is a little clunky, but it you have difficulty reading, it will allow you to enjoy the guides.
